How do I choose a Workshop Course topic for the Start From Scratch track without overlapping or competing with the full course I’ll create later in the Ready to Launch track?

Ask yourself this key question: What is something that would be genuinely valuable to your ideal customer, give them a quick win, and move them closer to being ready for your future digital course?

There are three strategic ways to approach this:

Option 1: Choose a topic that covers beginner-level content your ideal customer would need before they’re ready for your full course. This approach helps your audience build a foundation and positions them to be more successful when they enroll in your signature program. For example, if your future course teaches how to stitch an advanced fall-themed table runner, your Workshop Course could focus on embroidery basics like transferring a design, threading a needle, and learning a few key stitches. By the time they finish your workshop, they’ll be more confident and ready for your advanced course.

Option 2: Choose a topic that represents a small slice of what you’ll eventually teach, delivered in a way that offers a clear, actionable result. For example, if your future course teaches hairstylists how to open and run a successful salon, your Workshop Course could focus on one strategy like using Facebook ads to get 10 new clients this month. It gives them a quick win, builds momentum, and makes them more qualified for your full course where you’ll go deeper into systems, hiring, finances, and other salon operations.

Option 3: Choose a topic that attracts the same type of person who would benefit from your future course, even if it’s unrelated to the actual course content. The value is in drawing in your ideal customer, building trust, and offering something useful. For example, I once taught a workshop called “How to Plan Your 2023 Promo Calendar.” While that wasn’t the core content of List Builders Society, it appealed to the same audience and gave them a useful tool while preparing them to take the next step with me.

No matter which option you choose, your goal is to create something helpful and results-driven that naturally leads your audience closer to the bigger transformation you’ll offer in your full course.
