How many people should I have on my email list before I launch my course?
If you’re in Your Start From Scratch Digital Course Track, your focus is on building or growing your email list to around 250 subscribers while creating and launching your very first Workshop Course. You can absolutely launch with a smaller list. What matters most is engagement. A warm, connected list of subscribers who trust you and are excited to hear from you can outperform a much larger list that’s not paying attention.
If you’re in Your Ready to Launch Digital Course Track, your focus is on scaling your impact beyond 250 subscribers by validating, creating, and launching your Digital Course. I recommend aiming for 500 engaged subscribers before your launch, but that number isn’t a hard rule. Many of our students have had successful 5-figure launches with smaller lists because they built strong relationships with their audience and showed up consistently.
Whether your list is 50 or 500, remember that connection always outperforms size. If your list is smaller, you may need to lower your expectations for revenue and focus instead on testing, learning, and building momentum for future launches.
And if you need a little encouragement, listen to episode 602 of my podcast: “My Email List Is Too Small To Launch My Digital Course.” It’s packed with proof that you can start right where you are and still see results.
