What do you do when you get mixed responses from your ICA during your course validation calls?

It’s completely normal to get mixed feedback during your course calls. You will not always have a big aha moment or see a clear theme right away. But I promise, if you keep going and push through the confusion, clarity will come.

Make sure you are taking detailed notes during your calls, or better yet, record them so you can fully listen in the moment. Sometimes you won’t catch something important until you go back and listen again. Let your ICA talk as much as they’re willing. The answers you need are often found between the lines of what they’re saying.

If you’re hearing different messages about what your audience wants or needs, start by checking in with yourself first. Get clear on what you are actually capable of teaching. Look at your experience and your comfort level. Ask yourself:

  • Have I taught this before in some way?
  • What kinds of results have I helped others get with this topic?
  • Could I map out a course plan for this today, even if it’s rough?

Then ask yourself, based on what you know about your ICA, what do they truly need? From there, you can shape an offer that’s aligned with what you can teach and what your audience is asking for.

The purpose of these calls is to uncover interest and willingness to pay. If you’re still unsure, keep going. If you’ve only done a few calls, like fewer than seven, you may not have talked to enough people yet to see the patterns clearly. More conversations often lead to more clarity.

And don’t forget, the “Course Calls” Strategy Cheat Sheet in Module 2, Lesson 1 of Your Ready to Launch Digital Course Track will guide you with exactly what to ask. Keep going. The clarity you need is on the other side of consistent action.
