How do you account for different students being at different stages of their journey within your course?

If your course is designed to serve students who are at varying stages of their journey, the key is to structure your content in a way that meets them where they are while still moving everyone toward the same transformation. You can absolutely have one course that serves a range of experience levels as long as you are intentional about how you guide them.

Here’s what I recommend:

  • Set clear expectations early on. In Digital Course Academy, I’m very transparent with my students about the pace and process. For those who are newer to online business, I say something like, “It might take you longer than others to get through this course, and that’s okay. Take your time and run your own race.” Normalizing different paces takes the pressure off and helps students feel supported no matter where they’re starting from.

  • Create a “Getting Started” bonus that speaks to both ends of the spectrum. You could include one section for beginners that covers foundational material and one for more advanced students that helps them fast-track to the content that’s most relevant for them. This is a great way to make everyone feel seen and give them a tailored path without having to create multiple courses.

  • Be flexible and responsive. Pay attention to your students. If you start hearing the same questions or noticing that certain students are struggling, create additional resources to support them. A few short videos, a live training, or even a conversation in your Facebook group can make a big difference. The key is not to let your ego get in the way. You are allowed to adjust your content to better serve your audience.

When you make your course dynamic and adaptable, your students feel taken care of, and that is what leads to bigger results and higher completion rates.
