The content in my lessons feels boring. How do I make it more exciting and engaging?

First, don’t be so hard on yourself. If your content feels a little dry to you, it’s probably because you’ve been immersed in it for so long. You’ve been planning, outlining, writing, recording... of course it doesn’t feel fresh anymore. But remember, this content is brand new for your students. They’re seeing it with fresh eyes, and they’re excited about what they’re learning.

That said, if you want to bring more excitement into your course, here are a few ideas:

  • Tell more stories. Personal stories, childhood stories, client stories, etc. Anything that shows your own journey or illustrates a transformation. When your students can see themselves in your experience, they stay more engaged.

  • Use more examples. Screenshots, visuals, images, or real-life applications of what you’re teaching help your students make connections. The more tangible the concept, the more it sticks.

  • Get your community involved. If you’re using a Facebook group, send students there with a specific call to action. For example, when I used to teach webinar creation, I’d ask students to choose a “Game On” song and post it in the group. This got them excited and connected them with each other. It made the content more fun, and it created momentum.

And when it comes to how you record your content, small tweaks can go a long way. Practice your script or outline before you hit record. Smile when you’re talking, even if you’re off camera (it adds energy). Stand up while you’re recording. Stay hydrated and rested. And above all, let your personality shine through.

Don't worry about perfection. Your students need clear, helpful teaching that keeps them moving forward. Let your content do the heavy lifting, and let your personality make the experience fun.
