How do you deal with negative, off-topic, or self-promoting comments during a Facebook Live?
The best thing you can do in the moment is ignore them completely. I know it’s distracting (it happens to me too), but calling attention to those comments only gives them more power and throws off the flow of your presentation. Stay focused on your ICA and keep your energy on the people who are there to learn and connect with you.
If you have a VA or someone on your team helping during your Facebook Live, you can ask them to monitor the comments and quietly block or remove anything that’s inappropriate, spammy, or self-promotional. That way you don’t even have to see it.
If you're managing your Live solo, just stay on track and then block or delete any of those commenters afterward. One of the great things about Facebook is that you can manage your group or page settings, and over time, you can filter out repeat offenders.
At the end of the day, don’t let a few negative or irrelevant comments derail your momentum. You’re there to serve, teach, and connect, and your true audience will appreciate you for it.
