If I’m dripping my course content, should students get access to the members' area right away even though Module 1 isn’t available yet?

Yes, I absolutely recommend giving your new students access to the members' area immediately after they enroll, even if Module 1 won’t be released until later. It’s all about managing their mindset and momentum from the very start.

Here’s what I suggest: make sure they have something to dive into right away. This could be a Welcome video and some sort of bonus material. You want to give them something to consume while they’re waiting for Module 1 to drop.

When I used to drip Digital Course Academy content, for example, I always offered instant access to a Welcome Module. That included:

  • A Welcome video to set the tone and create excitement

  • A roadmap so they know what’s coming

  • A Project Plan to help them stay organized and on track

  • And an opportunity to join an accountability group if that’s something I’m offering during the launch

Students also get immediate access to any bonuses they qualified for.

The key here is expectation setting. In the confirmation email they receive after enrolling, be sure to clearly communicate when Module 1 will be released and what they can do in the meantime.

This early access gives them something tangible to focus on, which builds excitement and reduces second-guessing. It also lowers refund requests because your students feel welcomed and supported from the moment they join your course.
