How do you suggest I find a Virtual Assistant (VA) to help me with my webinars? Can you give a few hiring suggestions?
You first need to get clear in advance on what you need from your VA, and you’ll need to create a job description.
To do that, use The Live Webinar Toolkit PDF in Module 6, Lesson 3 of Your Ready to Launch Track as your guide. I’ve listed out all the important roles, including day-of roles, that your VA can plan to support you on your Live webinars.
As for hiring your VA, I suggest you hire someone you know who has the skills the job requires and the flexible schedule to work when you need them. (Think: friend, neighbor, co-worker, or acquaintance. I had my best friend help me when I did my first webinars!)
Set up a time to meet with them on Zoom to get to know them. I always like to say hiring for culture and making sure they are open to feedback, and direction, and come at problems with a sense of curiosity are things to look for in a good VA for a launch.
If that route doesn’t work, seek recommendations from your fellow Digital Course Academy peers in the Facebook group. Many DCAers will have had first-hand experience working with a VA; and as you know, a personal recommendation is always good. You may also find someone in the DCA Community to swap webinar support with.
Either way, always ask for work reference contact information; and take the time to get on the phone and chat with someone who has worked with them in the capacity in which you need them.
Remember, you don’t need to hire someone full-time or even part-time. I suggest hiring a VA for the amount of time it will take to cover you for your webinars, and then for a few extra hours to cover the tasks you want to delegate to them in preparation for your webinars.
You can also check out Belay Solutions and Priority VA, but these will likely be more expensive and you might have to agree to a certain amount of hours. Or a past DCA student, Emily Regan offers VAs for hire here.
